The Flatland String Band pans for musical treasures
in the deep river of American song, giving a string band
interpretation to popular hits and traditional melodies
from the last two centuries.
The trio’s vocal harmonies are supported by Mary Neri King
on fiddle; Jamie Knapp on upright bass, guitar, and banjo;
and Rick Palkovic on guitar, resophonic guitar, and mandolin.
The band is available for engagements in Northern
California.

Mary Neri “Sings Like a Canary” King | When Mary was 9, her father traded photographic
services for an old violin and launched her musical career. She has
played with a variety of orchestras, sung in several vocal ensembles,
and performs solo, accompanying herself on guitar. Contact Mary. |
|
Jamie “Dog House” Knapp | Jamie is a standup kinda gal. She occasionally trades
the old doghouse bass for a banjo or guitar. Sings too, of course, and
(guess what?) carries equipment — something bass players get used
to in a hurry. Jamie keeps the band in tune and on time. With her husband Rick, she also plays swing and jazz in a combo called Elements of Style, and performs with the contempory acoustic band Tree-O. Contact Jamie. |
|
Rick “Keep On Pickin’” Palkovic | No stringed instrument is safe from this man’s
scheming. He will also honk on harmonicas and holler if not restrained.
He plays guitar with Elements of
Style, and mandolin, banjo, and dobro with Tree-O.
With Lorraine Anderson, Rick is the author of Cooking with Sunshine, a solar cookbook. Rick will haul gear when pressed, but is perfectly willing to chat up the audience while others move equipment. Contact Rick. |
