interpretation to popular hits and traditional melodies
from the last two centuries.
The trio’s vocal harmonies are supported by Mary Neri King
on fiddle; Jamie Knapp on upright bass, guitar, and banjo;
and Rick Palkovic on guitar, resophonic guitar, and mandolin.

|Mary Neri “Sings Like a Canary” King|| When Mary was 9, her father traded photographic
services for an old violin and launched her musical career. She also plays
with flautist Sue Sheya in the duo Wind and Bow and has
performed with a variety of orchestras and vocal ensembles. She
performs solo as well, accompanying herself on guitar.
|Jamie “Dog House” Knapp|| Jamie is a standup kinda gal. She occasionally trades
the old doghouse bass for a banjo or guitar. Sings too, of course, and
(guess what?) carries equipment — something bass players get used
to in a hurry.
Jamie keeps the band in tune and on time. With her husband Rick, she also plays swing and jazz in a combo called Elements of Style, and performs with the contempory acoustic band Tree-O. You can also hear her playing bass with the Davis-based jazz project The Blue Tones.
|Rick “Keep On Pickin’” Palkovic|| No stringed instrument is safe from this man’s
scheming. You’ll hear him on mandolin, dobro, and guitar in The
Flatland String Band. He will also honk on harmonicas and holler if not restrained.
He plays guitar with Elements of
Style, and mandolin and dobro with Tree-O.
With Lorraine Anderson, Rick is the author of Cooking with Sunshine, a solar cookbook.
Rick will haul gear when pressed, but is perfectly willing to chat up the audience while others move equipment.
